I would frankly stick away from Avast Anti-Virus and also Windows Live One-Care. You can also use: www.trendmicro.comTrendmicro.com has a free Virus and Spyware scan tool that runs from they're website. They also sell a Anti-Virus client called PC-Cillin. The free scan from the website works very well. I, infact have not used any sort of anti-virus in months, and am yet to get a virus. I occasionally do a trend micro scan, and it does not turn up anything.

I have had no problems with either of this utilities. I did have an annoyance with the level of sound when Avast found alerts, but Windows Live One care is nice, and ties in very well to automatic updates and such. (which is annoying if I want to not reboot for weeks, but still)
And I definitely use the trendmicro.com free scan. I also have used the comprehensive Windows Live Security Center scan, which does defragging and other tools as well.
